1. 호산나는 당시 종교적 감탄사로 아멘, 할렐루야와도 같은 의미의 단어이다.

2. 어떤 연출에선 군중들이 나뭇가지를 들고 흐느적 휘젓거리며 지저스를 맞이한다. 이는 종려나무로 이스라엘인들에게 거룩함과 승리의 상징이었다. 2012라이센스판에도 했던 것 같기도.

3. 이와 비슷한 구절은 시편[33:3, 51:14, 95:1]에도 언급된다.

4. 사실 지저스는 천국에 들어가기 쉽다고 한 적이 없다. 그는 천국은 심령이 가난한 자, 즉 겸손한 자들(마태 5:3), 어린아이와 같은 마음을 가진 이들이 갈 수 있다고 했다. 부자가 천국 가는 건 낙타가 바늘구멍 통과하는 것만큼 힘들다고 할 정도인데.
 여기서 지저스는 아무래도 그의 백성들이 비록 그를 온전히 이해하진 못해도(앞서부른 노래에서 목이 쉬어라 불렀다시피) 코딱지만큼은 이해했다고 생각한 듯. 그리고 이 착각은 다음 노래에서 와장창.

 가사엔 언급되지 않았으나 다윗이 언급된 마태 [11:10]에 더 써보자면, 다윗은 이스라엘의 2번째 왕으로 블레셋의 장수인 거인 골리앗을 물리친 목동이었다. 예언에 따르면 다윗왕의 자손 중 메시아가 나타난다고 했더랬다. 실제로 지저스는 다윗왕의 자손이다...는데 미묘한 게 다윗은 마리아의 조상이 아니라 요셉의 조상. 여러모로 신묘한 성경의 세계

1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,
2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me.

3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
5 “Say to the Daughter of Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’ “

6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.
7 They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them.
8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest!”

10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?
11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

3 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ tell him, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’ “

4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it,
5 some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”
6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go.
7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it.

8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields.

9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”

10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!” “Hosanna in the highest!”
11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went to the temple. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.

28 After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 

29 As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them,

30 “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”
32 Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them.
33 As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?”

34 They replied, “The Lord needs it.”
35 They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it.
36 As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road.

37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all themiracles they had seen:

38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”“Peace in heaven and
glory in the highest!”

39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

JOHN [12 : 12-15]
12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem.
13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the King of Israel!”

14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written,
15 “Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”
